Register of Asbestos

The Register of Asbestos lists every room in every campus building by room number and is reviewed annually to verify the accuracy of the detail listed, including the condition of any asbestos listed. It is available as an Excel document.

Anyone intending to undertake work associated with any existing building on campus must first check the Register. If asbestos is listed in any areas where work involving alteration to the building fabric will occur, or the presence of asbestos is suspected, the person responsible for performing the work should contact the Asbestos Hazard Officer to:
  • discuss the method of works including all associated precautions proposed
  • gain the approval for the proposed work to proceed.

The Asbestos Removal Guidelines require that the University Asbestos Hazard Officer be informed of the inention to undertake asbestos removal work at least 7 days prior to work commencing.

The Asbestos Hazard Officer is Jeff Ash. He can be contacted on 8201 3728 or jeff.ash@flinders.edu.au

Each person involved with building work also must have completed a site induction and must comply with any specific requirements set out during this induction. For further information about workplace induction requirements, contact the Occupational Health & Safety Unit.
