Flinders University is committed to meeting the standards required by the Occupational Health Safety and Welfare Act 1986 as amended.
As a requirement under the Act all contractors who are engaged to undertake work on University premises be registered with the University and all persons working on site must have have completed the CONTRACTOR INDUCTION. Each person undertaking the induction must present a signed copy of their certificate to the University responsible person, to be forwarded to Buildings & Property and registered on the induction database.
To become a Registered Contractor, organisations or individual must complete the Contactor Safety Agreement (PDF) and provide the University with details of :
- Workcover Registration;
- Public Liability Insurance;
- Contractor OH&S Policy;
- Contractor Safety Management Plan;
- Licences and Accreditations.
All contractors are expected to familiarise themselves with the Flinders University OH&S Policy and the Contractor Safety Policy.
The University has established the Guidelines for Contractor Safety (PDF) and a Contractor Induction Program to assist in providing a safe working environment for contractors, sub-contractors and all persons present at the workplace.
The policy sets a framework to ensure that all contractors and their sub-contractors and employees are provided with a safe working environment and that they work in ways that will maintain that safe environment.
