Flinders in the regions

Port Lincoln

Our Lincoln Marine Science Centre is used for teaching, field courses and conferences.

Both the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and Primary Industries South Australia have staff based at the Centre. TAFE SA uses the Centre to deliver a diploma-level aquaculture course.

The Centre works together with the Marine Innovation SA (MISA) program to provide further services to the community.

Riverland

The Flinders University Rural Clinical School is based at the Renmark Paringa District Hospital. Medical students spend a year working in the Riverland under the guidance of local doctors. We also offer our nursing degree at the School.

South-East

Staff from the Greater Green Triangle University Department of Rural Health (a joint venture with Deakin University and the Flinders University Rural Clinical School) are based in Mt Gambier, and student doctors take placements there under the Rural and Remote Area Placement Program.

Flinders also has a long involvement with the Naracoorte Caves Conservation Park and, in particular, the Wonambi Fossil Centre.

We also have a program in place to build new partnerships in the region.

Northern Territory

The Centre for Remote Health in Alice Springs, a joint venture between Flinders and the Charles Darwin University, provides tertiary education, training and research to meet the health needs of remote communities.

Flinders also operates the NT Clinical School in Darwin and Alice Springs.
