Prominent alumni profile

Scott Hicks graduated with a BA Hons in 1975 and received an Hon DLitt in 1997.

His film “Shine” won seven Academy Award nominations and grossed over $100 million at the box office.

After that, his life changed quite dramatically, but his journey had begun with the world of ideas that opened up for him at Flinders, through the stimulus of companions, the provocation of his lecturers and the creative opportunities that a Bolex camera and 100 feet of 16mm film offered.
