Graduate Certificate in
International Business Administration

Program of Study

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Certificate in International Business Administration is an 18-unit program which is part of the Graduate Program in International Business Administration offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The course is offered on a fee-paying basis.

It articulates with the 36-unit Graduate Diploma in International Business Administration and the 72-unit Master of Business Administration (International Business), and the sequentially developed topics allow progression through the three awards.

Students who complete the graduate certificate normally receive credit for up to 18 units of topics should they wish to proceed with the graduate diploma.


COURSE AIMS

The Graduate Program in International Business Administration is designed to prepare experienced managers and executives for positions of responsibility in internationally oriented organisations. It emphasises international business strategy and management and focuses, in particular, on international business management in the Asia-Pacific region.

The program aims to provide managers, executives, and middle managers with knowledge and skills that will enhance or consolidate their careers in international business through addressing major international issues.

The Graduate Certificate in International Business Administration is an introductory program which provides students with opportunities to develop their international business skills.


COURSE RULE

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

However, the Faculty Board may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.

PROGRAM OF STUDY [November, 2007]

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in International Business Administration, a student must complete 18 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.

Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year.

Students select three of the following topics:

Note: Students planning to enrol subsequently for the Master of Business Administration (International Business) are advised, in order to complete their studies in the minimum time, to consider the requirements of the masters degree when choosing topics in each semester.

Except with permission of the Faculty Board:

  • the program must be completed within four consecutive semesters;
  • no topic may be attempted more than twice;
  • a student may not include a topic which repeats work previously undertaken.
