Health and welfare facilities

The Health Service

The Health Service is a fully equipped Medical Centre and is open from 8:45am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. It is available to all students and staff in the university.

All consultations are confidential and services are bulk-billed.

Male and female medical practitioners staff the general practice Health Service. It provides emergency and routine medical care, as well as other services such as:

  • first aid
  • health screens (pap smears, skin checks, cholesterol, STDs etc)
  • staff medicals
  • minor surgery
  • health education
  • vaccinations (both for health care work and travel)
  • referrals.

The Counselling Service

The Counselling Service provides free counselling for students.

A drop-in service from 11:00am to 12:30pm each weekday offers short appointments to deal with any immediate concerns.

To make an appointment to see a counsellor, phone (08) 8201 2118 or call in and speak to the reception staff. We try to see students on the day if the matter is urgent.

There is also a Phonelink Counselling Service available from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Phone (08) 8201 2118.

Religious Centre

The Religious Centre is a multi-faith community, consisting of members of a variety of religious and spiritual traditions.

The Religious Centre offers a welcoming environment in which to meet others, a sacred space and areas for prayer or reflection. Muslim Prayer Rooms and a Prayer and Meditation Room are available.

The Religious Centre also houses Chaplains' offices and an office for organisers of student religious groups.
