Success in cancer prevention and control requires a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. We have developed an extensive network of national and international collaborations with academic and research institutions, hospitals and service providers, government departments, NGOs and companies. These partnerships complement our skills and capabilities and also strengthen our capacity to bridge the gap between research outcomes and their translation into practice.
As members of key professional bodies, Committees and Working Groups, our researchers contribute to peer review, policy development, service planning and similar activities – all important for dissemination and implementation of research findings.
The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation
The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation (FMCF) is a key partner with us and Flinders Medical Centre in developing the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer (FCIC). This is an integrated cancer centre, based on the US ‘comprehensive cancer centre’ model, that will provide patient care, biomedical and clinical research, and education for patients and health professionals – all within a single state-of-the-art building to be constructed adjacent to Flinders Medical Centre commencing in August 2010.
