Department of Primary Industries and Resources (SA Research and Development Institute), Casual Research Support

Duties: The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) conducts research for the benefit of South Australian primary industries and the environment on which they depend. Aquatic Sciences is responsible for research related to fisheries, aquaculture and the aquatic environment.
 
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience include good written and oral communication, experience in field and/or lab based scientific research. Other desirable qualities include previous aquaculture experience, diving qualifications with experience (preferable commercial), coxswains certificate and/or the ability to work at sea, experience in benthic and/or pelagic sampling, underwater video and photography experience, taxonomic knowledge of local marine fauna (especially in fauna and fish), data entry and analysis, experience in conducting literature surveys, maintaining animals in aquaria and a current driver’s licence.

Special Conditions: Work outside the normal hours and weekend work may be required. These positions will be located at the SARDI Aquatic Sciences Centre, West Beach, Mount Gambier or The Lincoln Marine Science Centre, Port Lincoln.

GFB Fisheries Ltd, Aquaculture Technicians

Positions are available for aquaculture technicians to join our team at Good Fortune Bay fisheries, Bowen, Queensland.

Tasks within broodstock, hatchery, nursery and growout will be required. Duties will focus on the hatchery and technical aspects. Tertiary qualifications are preferred and experience beneficial.  The applicant will have a sound understanding of biological processes and techniques. Training will be provided and graduates with a keen interest in working within a commercial aquaculture production setting are encouraged to apply.
