The South Australian Museum, Information Officer (Casual Pool)

The purpose of the Museum is to inspire in all people a wonder and curiosity about life on Earth. The role contributes as part of a team to the development, delivery and evaluation of quality information services that increase accessibility to the collections, services and expertise of the South Australian Museum. Results area:

  • Facilitate high quality information services for a broad range of visitors and clients, both actual and virtual.
  • Provide general information and advice on enquiries relating to natural and cultural history including the South Australian Museums collections through face to face contact, telephone or email.
  • Model effective communication and facilitate positive interactions across the South Australian Museum.
  • Answer general queries from the public.
  • Undertake supervised research related to enquiries and information resources.
  • Develop and maintain innovative, accessible learning opportunities and systems that increase understandings of natural and cultural history.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the Community Engagement team.
  • Check on and maintain wellbeing of Information Centre animals (including handling) which include reptiles, insects and arachnids.
  • Monitor and maintain security of assets and objects within the Information Centre.
  • Condition check incoming specimens for livestock - pest species.

Weekend and public holiday work will be required.
