Novita Children's Services, Recreation Officer - ConnectABILITY Program

Are you passionate about the inclusion of children with disabilities in active community recreation programs?

The Recreation Officer is responsible for implementing the ConnectABILITY Program. The Recreation Officer will work with individual clients aged 5-18 years, living in Adelaide metropolitan areas and their families to assess needs and develop strategies to enhance their participation in sport and recreation in their communities. The incumbent will be required to provide additional, individualised support to community-organised recreation groups and clubs that are looking to enhance their inclusion strategies for children with a disability and facilitate community involvement through volunteer mentoring opportunities.

Athletics South Australia, Youth Programs and Performance Coordinator

The Youth Programs and Performance Coordinator plays a key role in administering Athletics SA’s Youth development programs for track and field, road running, cross country, and race walking. An important component of the role is to also coordinate the South Australian Target Talent Program, which is a youth performance and talent identification initiative. The incumbent will also be responsible for the effective coordination of all Athletics SA squads and teams, whilst implementing the organisation’s overall recruitment, retention and junior athlete development strategy.

Reporting/Working Relationships

The Youth Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with other Athletics SA staff and volunteers. A key component of the role is to build strong working relationships with the organisation’s key stakeholders including Athletics Australia, Little Athletics SA, School Sport bodies, SA Athletic League, SA Masters, SA Road Runners Club, Australian Track and Field Coaches Association, schools, affiliated clubs, Office for Recreation and Sport, and sponsors.

This is a diverse and exciting role that plays a key role in the success of Athletics in South Australia.

Special Conditions

Due to the nature of the position, regular work outside of normal office hours, including weekends will be required. In particular, flexibility will be required in regards to working hours in the lead up and during national junior championships. A time in lieu arrangement will apply.
