We offer a range of services to assist you to develop your employability skills. These services are available to you up to 1 year after you complete your studies.

Every effort is made to provide maximum access to Careers Advice & Development Services for all students.

To ensure you get the most out of your appointment, please note the following:

  • Bring a printed copy of any document you want to discuss at a Resume Express Session or Careers Appointment.
  • Bring an electronic copy of your document(s) on a USB to your Applications Assistance Clinic.
  • If you are not able to attend, please call us on (08) 8201 2832 to cancel your appointment. If you are running more than 10 minutes late, please call the Careers Centre to prevent your appointment from being cancelled.

Career Express Sessions

Book a 15 minute session for the following queries:

  • Raise quick application related queries and obtain brief feedback and advice about an application document such as a resume, application letter or selection criteria response in a 1-1 review with a Career Development Consultant (printed copy only).
  • Discuss brief careers queries 1-1 with a Career Development Consultant such as your career options and pathways, career development and job search strategies and more.

Applications Assistance Clinics

  • Are you a final year student applying for a graduate position?
  • Do you need assistance marketing yourself in your application?
  • Are you looking to gain some casual/part-time work and need to update your resume?
  • Are you an international student needing to develop your resume for the Australian workplace?

If you answered YES to any of these questions - then we need to see you at the Applications Assistance Clinic!

The Careers and Employer Liaison Centre provides Applications Assistance Clinics to all enrolled students and recent graduates.

An Applications Assistance Clinic is a 20 minute 1-1 hands on session with a Career Development Consultant where you can work on your written documents, such as your resume, cover letter or response to selection criteria.

Please bring along an electronic copy of your document(s) on a USB so you can use your time effectively to make changes and create a strong marketing document.

Career Appointments

Career Appointments enable you to speak with a Career Development Consultant for 30 minutes.

It is an opportunity to have an in depth discussion relative to your specific careers needs.

Your Career Appointment may involve:

  • Discussion and exploration to assist with defining what you want from your career and guidance on planning for your next steps or further study options
  • Enhancing strategies for your applications, interviews and assessment centres
  • Identifying options if you are considering changing or withdrawing from your course
  • Addressing a broad range of questions or issues that require assistance
  • Understanding how to successfully market your skills and strengths in the job market.
  • Practise for an upcoming job interview.


Before attending your appointment please undertake the following activities:

  • Look at the resources on our website which relate to your query, e.g.: if you have a query about your career direction, make sure you have looked at our Choosing Career Goals handout on our website prior to attending.
  • Think about what you want to focus on in the appointment, and what you want to get out of the appointment.

Virtual Careers Appointments

Whilst a face to face appointment is ideal, if you can’t visit the Careers and Employer Liaison Centre in person because you are on placement, working, juggling commitments or studying externally or at one of our Regional locations, we can conduct your Careers Appointment via telephone or SKYPE!

Just check the Career Appointment times to book for a time that suits you.

Phone or SKYPE Consultations offer you the opportunity to discuss your career related query, including electronically reviewing your resume and other documents. For a review of your application documents, please send them to us via email by Close of Business the day before your Career Appointment.

Bookings can be made over the phone on (08) 8201 2832.

You will need to have a SKYPE address if you wish to use SKYPE for your Careers Appointment. At the time of booking you will be given the SKYPE address of the Career Development Consultant on duty and your consultation details.

Please visit SKYPE to check if your computer is suitable, download the free software and find out how to use it.

If you are experiencing any technical problems with SKYPE, please visit SKYPE Support or contact your internet service provider.

Resume or Cover Letter Email Service

You may prefer to email your resume or your cover letter (one page cover letters only) for basic feedback.

You may access this service up to 4 times each semester.

Email us from your student email address and include the following:

  • Given and Family Names
  • Student ID number
  • Course
  • Completion date
  • Phone Number  
  • The advertisement for the job you are applying for.

Attach your resume OR your cover letter as a Word document and send it to us via email.

We will check your document and provide you with feedback. We aim to send this within three working days, but it may be longer during periods of high demand.

Our Careers Information Email Service is a good starting point to connect with us.

  • Start to find out about your career/further study options
  • Identify strategies to maximise your time at university and develop your graduate qualities
  • Access our extensive resources on effective job search techniques and ways of finding work
  • Referral to other activities and programs provided within the Careers and Employer Liaison Centre.
