  • Find Industry Experience

Today’s employers are seeking students with experience that complement their degree studies. Employers will use your vacation work, work experience and Placement/Internship to help them select who they will select for graduate positions. As a Flinders student you can build on your degree by undertaking some industry experience.

It was a very valuable experience and I thankyou very much for your effort in securing the position.  I really enjoyed working in the Nursery and the animal enclosure.

    Industry experience allows you to:

    • build on the skills and experience undertaken in your course
    • develop skills wanted by employers
    • develop contacts with employers

These opportunities are available in a wide variety of career fields including law, business, finance, community services, local government, health fields, public relations, engineering, science, marketing, the arts, education, the environment, commonwealth departments and agencies, state government and many more.

    PR Consultant, Michels Warren
My aim was to get as much experience as I can to help me find full-time work in the Advertising industry. The people I have met .... have become strong contacts and friends - already! I had such a great week. Firstly, everyone was very willing to let me come to meetings with them and sit in on the Board meeting. I attended an annual report session about print samples and wrote two articles for publication in local magazines.

Some courses offer work placements, check with academic staff in your course, and the university offers a range of other programs to assist you. Investigate both the WorkReady program and Vacation Work opportunities on this website.
