    One Bachelor of Arts Graduate gained a position as a Human Resources Assistant: "I have some administrative tasks such as filing, managing accounts, and managing the Human Resources Intranet site. I also provide new employees with an induction, I manage two committees and corporations study assistance, and am also involved in administering and evaluating on-line training courses." They advise: "Make sure that you take advantage of all the programs that the University offers particularly the WorkReady program and the mentor scheme because these two programs enabled me to get the job that I did.     Dual Award: Flinders/TAFE-SA
    This innovative program enables students to undertake a Bachelor of Arts degree at Flinders and a vocationally oriented course of study at TAFE in four years instead of the five years required to complete the two separately. The TAFE options are:

    Below are some examples of specialised pathways for Arts students according to the major streams of study. This list is not exhaustive. Note that some positions may require further study and/or experience.

    Globalisation
    The overall objective is to use the subject of globalisation to provide students with specialist knowledge and a variety of skills that equip them for employment and for full participation in an increasingly globalised world. This program has been developed in conjunction with a range of employers, who have indicated that it will enhance graduates' employability in all aspects where they wish to apply.     American/Latin American Studies
    Cultural, political & economic advice to public and private sectors, Tourism and travel industries, Teaching, State Public Sector, Journalism, Community Service Work, International Development Programs. When combined with Language Studies-Translating and interpreting, Specialist Language Library Work, Bilingual Information Services, Teaching in Australia and overseas. When combined with Economics or Commerce it may be useful for employment in organisations involved in trade, commerce, and marketing services in these regions.     The History Trust of SA is a Statutory Authority. The Trust manages three museums and a Community History program as part of its wide ranging resposibilities for ensuring the preservation and interpretation of South Australia's rich and distinctive history.

    CURATORS IN HISTORY
    The History Trust of SA is seeking applications for the position of curator at each of : South Australian Maritime Museum, Migration Museum and the National Motor Museum in Birdwood.

    South Australian Public Sector Graduate Recruitment program

    Mia Turner completed a Bachelor of Arts (Criminal Justice) and is currently doing a BA Honours in Criminal Justice. She has worked on contract as a Project Officer in Higher Education. Her role involves: "Supporting and assisting other staff, student liaison, event coordination / assistance, and coordinating / assisting the recruitment of students, preparation programs, paperwork etc..." In addition, while undertaking her undergraduate degree she also worked in various areas such as marketing, hospitality and most recently, recruitment, the latter being a result of studying Psychology in her first year. Her role in this industry has been to work as an assessor in the now commonly used Assessment Centres.

    Australian Graduate Survey

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full- or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000
