    Katie Smeets

"After completing a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) degree at Flinders University I was made aware of the ABS Graduate Recruitment campaign through the Careers Centre at Uni. I was offered a graduate position the day after my interview and began working in the Adelaide Office. I have had the opportunity to work in a diverse range of areas including both economic and population statistics. My graduate placements have included the National Centre for Culture & Recreation, the Regional & Rural Statistics National Centre, Building Approvals, Buildings Development & Technical Group and Household Survey Development & Processing. The most enjoyable aspect of my graduate experience has been the variety of work. I have worked on a range of projects including literature reviews, data analysis and production of ABS publications, questionnaire design and survey development. In this way I have been able to use the skills I developed during my university studies as well as learn a whole range of new skills. I've enjoyed the formal training courses as well as the opportunity to work with many different people from throughout the office. My graduate experience has been both challenging and enjoyable and has certainly provided me with valuable skills for the future."
