    Medical Scientist, Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS)

    Duties: Contribute to the provision of a diagnostic pathology service by performing routine laboratory tests in the disciplines of Microbiology, Serology, Haematology, Biochemistry, Transfusion and Tissue Pathology

    Essential Minimum Qualifications: A Degree in Science or Applied Science or Associate Membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Laboratory Scientists.

    Special Conditions: This is a temporary position until 28 July 2006.   Initially rostered over 7 days and shift work over 24 hours is required. Required to participate in an on call roster.   Some intra-state travel will be expected.

    Laboratory Technician/Analytical Chemist Microbial Products Pty. Ltd

    Microbial Products Pty. Ltd is a biotechnology company specialising in the development of veterinary medicines.   The company is seeking an analytical chemist to join the company's R & D team at its Norwood laboratories. The duties of the appointee include operation of HPLC equipment for nucleotide analysis, Kjeldahl nitrogen and photometric carbohydrate analyses, implementing QC and QA protocols for fermenter feedstock and microbial metabolites, and formulation development.   In addition to the above, some general technical assistance with laboratory bioassays will be required.   In-house training will be provided by the company.

    This full time position is suitable for persons with qualifications and/or experience in analytical chemistry or biochemistry; the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Australian Graduate Survey

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000

    Research Assistant, Queen Elizabeth Hospital & Health Service

    Duties: Assists in research undertaken in the Department of Otolaryngology being responsible for tissue collection, tissue culture, Real Time RT PCR and ELISA.

    Essential Minimum Qualifications: An appropriate Degree in Science (i.e Bachelor of Science or equivalent, majoring in biochemistry or molecular biology).
