    THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS ADMITTED TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COMBINED DEGREES:

    • Bachelor of Education (Junior Primary/Primary)/Bachelor of Science
    • Bachelor of Education (Middle School)/Bachelor of Science
    • Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Science

    The Biological Sciences major will not be offered to students commencing after 2005 in the Bachelor of Science, unless it is part of a combined degree. Students who commenced in 2005 may complete the Major according to the program of study below.

    Continuing students who commenced in the Bachelor of Science in 2004 or before may complete their degree according to the previous program of study and should consult the Course Information Handbook for 2004 or seek advice from program approvers.

    Streams are no longer offered at Third Year level. Students who commenced their degree prior to 2002 may still complete streams and should refer to the School of Biological Sciences Student Handbook, available from the School website.

    Research Assistant, Bionomics Limited

    Bionomics Limited is an ASX listed biotechnology company based in Adelaide, Australia, where it occupies a new purpose-built research facility. Bionomics combines its strong gene discovery research focus with validation efforts leading to the development of new drugs for the therapy of serious medical conditions. Bionomics' Cancer Research program focuses on the development of drugs targeting blood vessel formation in tumours.

    We are currently seeking an additional motivated and skilled scientist to fill the following position: Research Assistant, Target Validation, Cancer Program.

    Australian Graduate Survey

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000
