There may be opportunities to assist schools in a voluntary capacity with some special project, or to become a support staff member in sports coaching, drama and music groups, outdoor education and camps programs.

    Where can our graduates go?

    Graduates can expect to find positions in government, independent and Catholic Schools throughout South Australia and there is the potential for employment interstate and overseas. Graduates will be provided with an academic qualification that will enable them to apply for registration in South Australia, interstate and some overseas countries (exact requirements may vary).

    Education Options

    • Early Childhood: The degree prepares graduates to work in services providing for the education and care of children from birth to eight years of age.
    • Junior Primary/Primary: is for students who wish to teach Reception to Year 7.
    • Middle School: is for students who wish to teach Years 6-10.
    • Secondary: is for students who wish to teach Years 8-12.
    • Special Education: Depending on their choice of studies, graduates will be equipped to teach in either junior primary / primary or upper primary / lower secondary settings in a wide range of schools.

    Combined Degree Options

    Graduates of a BA, BSc or BHlthSc can apply for positions in a range of government and private industry settings. Graduates of the BHlthSc can work in a variety of community health settings.

    Some Occupations

    Although the majority of education graduates go on to employment as a teacher in the public or private sector, some choose to follow other pathways. They may find interesting work in training settings in industry, the public sector (Federal, State and Local) and in personnel services areas. An education qualification is a good general qualification for many areas of work.

Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic community worker keen to join the Christies Beach or Elizabeth Learning for Life team? This position requires the successful applicant to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and self-management skills as well as an understanding of the local community. You will also have a post secondary or tertiary qualification in Education, Welfare or a related area, and experience working with schools and communities on shared projects.

    Responsibilities of this role will include:

    Education Officer, Adelaide Zoo

    Adelaide Zoo Education Service seeks a registered Teacher to conduct the Zoo's Sleep over Program each Thursday night during school term. Will be responsible for assisting childrens learning and recreation through the use of prepared materials and activities. The position also requires the organisation of BBQ dinners and breakfasts for the group. Hours of work are from 5 p.m. - 9 30 a.m. There is also the possibility of assisting with school holiday programs.

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000

    English / SOSE (Years 8-10) Teaching Position, Cardijn College

    School Choice & Junior Primary Vacancies & Aboriginal Schools & Aboriginal Lands District Schools, SA Department of Education and Children's Services

    The School Choice process is a placement process able to be accessed by permanent and, for some vacancies, non-permanent teachers including employable teachers who have lodged an application for employment with DECS for 2006 and graduates who will complete their teacher education studies in 2005.

    The decision-making occurs at the school level by a panel consisting of the Principal (or nominee) and an AEU representative. Applicants submit an application directly to the school.
