    Environmental water management and protection is a rapidly growing area with strong professional employment opportunities. Importantly, it is underpinned by state of the art scientific understanding and investigation.

    Data Analyst - Hydrology, ADS Environmental Services Pty Ltd

    Develop your interest in hydrology working as a Data Analyst, on flow data acquisition contracts for municipalities and water authorities. The information is utilised to measure water and waste water system performance, undertake inflow/Infiltration studies, to calibrate computer models and for engineering design. Ultimately our goal is to help our clients to conserve water and to reduce the negative impact of waste water systems on natural waterways and the environment.

    Office based positions are available. As a Data Analyst you will process and analyse data; undertake inflow and infiltration studies, prepare reports and schedule field work.

    We would like a person with a proven background or keen interest in hydrology, who is resourceful, and are able to make informed decisions independently. Other key requirements are:

    • Excellent computer skills
    • Eye for detail
    • Maturity, responsible nature and good judgement
    • Willingness to learn the ropes and have a team approach

    Hydrographer/Field Hydrologist, Ecowise Environmental

    Ecowise Environmental is a leading service provider for environmental monitoring and water resources management. We provide these services to both the private and public sectors. We are currently seeking applications from suitably professionals to work in our growing division in the ACT and Mackay (Queensland).

    Responsibilities

    • Install and operate environmental, water resource and groundwater monitoring systems. These systems typically comprise data loggers, sensors and telemetry.
    • Data management and reporting of information.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Formal qualifications in a related environmental field is desirable (Hydrography, Hydrology, Water Science, or Instrumentation).
    • Relevant hydrographic experience is a prerequisite.
    • Proven ability in client liaison, project management and report writing is highly regarded.
    • Experience using HYDSYS, Excel, Word is advantageous.

    Australian Graduate Survey

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000
