    The Bachelor of International Studies gives graduates an advantage in seeking job opportunities in international, government and non-government organisations, including diplomacy, foreign affairs, defence, intelligence, foreign aid, humanitarian services, politics, education, language services and journalism.

    DSD is a highly professional, people oriented organisation and a key Australian intelligence agency that collects and produces foreign signals intelligence and advises the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Forces on computer and information security. For our generalist stream we are looking for graduates with well developed conceptual and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, an interest in global affairs and demonstrated adaptability, initiative and resourcefulness that have been developed through a course of university study. DSD is seeking graduates, final year students and experienced professionals with strong academic records in a diverse range of disciplines, with particular emphasis on the following:

    Australian Graduate Survey

    Graduate Careers Australia's (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey ( AGS ) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. New graduates are surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.

    2007 Graduates at a glance:

    • Of bachelor degree graduates who were available for full-time employment in 2007; 95 per cent were employed within four months of completing their degrees
    • One-fifth of respondents (20.0 per cent), were undertaking further full-time study after completing their bachelor qualifications
    • The typical (median) annual starting salary for new Australian resident bachelor degree graduates aged less than 25 and in their first full-time employment in Australia was $43,000
