    Where can our graduates go?

Legal Studies is a useful and interesting way of studying about the law. It will help you if you are thinking about a career in private enterprise, government, policing, equal opportunities, social work, law firms, journalism or any job that is affected by law. It is also highly valued by many employers.

Students who complete the Legal Studies major sequence will have a sound introduction to basic legal skills and methods and a better understanding of our legal system. Studies in the discipline prepare students for career opportunities in areas such as social work, justice administration, corrections, the legal services industry and all organisations that deal with law and the community.

The course, with its wide inter-disciplinary range, will also offer important resources for critical legal and social analysis, and will be of considerable interest to anyone planning a career within journalism and the media, and in any area of public and private sector administration.

A Flinders University student who completed a BA Legal Studies and Public Policy gained a position as a Project Officer in the Courts Improvement Unit, Dept of Justice. This position involved "Looking at all the projects which have been on the "to do" list within the Magistrates Court for the past 12 months. Looking at the current issues to do with the new fines enforcement legislation, write-off policy, dealing with an aggressive clients policy, petty cash, writing of a business case for data matching issues to do with the system. Basically evaluating and developing policy."
