The Bachelor of Media provides an opportunity for students to combine an intensive study of Media (especially Digital Media) with study of either the Creative Arts or Public Affairs.
Public Affairs Officer Grade 1, Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts
Assist in the development of information packages and products, including media releases, articles for publications, copy for advertisements, and new media. Liaise with line areas and senior staff on issues and projects and, under direction, with the Minister's office and the media. Manage contractors and external providers including graphic designers and printers. Undertake tasks associated with public affairs projects, such as launches, media conferences, meetings and events organisation. |

This course is intended to provide skills and knowledge for employment in a diverse range of positions including in the public service (for example, media and public affairs units), community groups, industry, education media, film and TV production companies, publishers, advertising, and arts organisations, to name a few.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is responsible for the regulation of broadcasting, the internet, radiocommunications and telecommunications.
Duties: The Policy and Project Officers are responsible for assisting in the development of allocation methodologies and setting administrative prices for radiofrequency spectrum, assisting in the management of telephone numbering resources, establishing and managing relations with communications industry, and the assisting in the management of the legislative platform for radiocommunications licensing, including space systems and prohibited devices. |

Adelaide Festival Centre Anthony Steel Fellowship
Duties: The Fellowship will provide graduates (Arts, Media, Marketing, Communications) with intensive marketing and programming experience with South Australia's leading arts organization. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and experience many of the aspects that make up the programming, marketing, audience development and production functions of arts administration. There will also be the opportunity to further develop vital creative and networking skills, critical to an arts administrator. The Fellow will be expected to assist in developing further the Festival Centre's link between education and practical experience while also fostering the interface between students and the arts industry locally and even internationally. There will be specific projects to undertake that will contribute to the Festival Centre's objectives as well as provide the opportunity to showcase skills and improve chances of future employment. ABC Cadet Journalist Program
The ABC's News Division is offering a number of positions in its Cadet Journalist training program. The successful applicants will be offered a one-year training contract and will be trained as journalists for radio, television and online news.
Applicants should have appropriate tertiary qualifications or have substantial practical experience in journalism. Applicants must have initiative, well-developed research and writing skills and good communication skills. A broadcast quality voice is essential. A demonstrated interest in news and current affairs is required as is a familiarity with all ABC News and Current Affairs output. Applicants must also be able to work well in a team and take direction.
The successful applicant may be required to relocate interstate during training. At completion of training, and based on performance, an opportunity to join a regional newsroom may be offered. |
