Graduate Profile - International Relations
Anna Lewkowicz is very excited at the prospect of working for 12
months as a project research adviser in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Working
in a developing country has been a personal dream of hers since
completing her Honours Degree, and subsequently a Master's Degree,
in international relations.
Based in the Department of Higher Education at Maharishi Vedic
University, Cambodia's only rural university, Anna will work in
conjunction with her Australian Partner Organisation, the Australian
Aid for Cambodia Fund. Her assignment involves training local counterparts
in database management and identifying and approaching donor agencies
and corporates, including writing project proposals.
The assignment will draw on her experience working for the South
Australian Government over the past three years.
Anna hopes that, by experiencing first-hand the Cambodian culture
and people, she will enhance her knowledge of and sensitivity to
the issues faced by people in developing countries.
She is looking forward to working with the local people and with
national and international organisations. Her hope is that the experience
will help her to grow, both personally and professionally, and enable
her to provide valuable training for the local staff.
