Graduate Profile - MBA
International Marketing Intern
Private Organisation
Commencement Date: 1 December 2003
Could you give us a description of what your position will involve?
Conducting Market Research for the company and presenting the findings
to the senior management of the company.
With your experiences in securing employment what advice would
you give to students who are in their first, second, and final year
of study?
Gain as much work experience as possible, because most employers
are looking for experience, even for graduate entry.
Many employers presenting employment information sessions have
commented on the importance of students undertaking extra curricular
activities during their time at university. Could you comment on
this?
Extra curricular activities are important so that the employer
knows that you are an active and dynamic person. Because they don't
know you, the CVs is their most reliable source to get to know you.
Plus, extra curricular activities will make your CVs look good.
How did you go about finding an internship? What was the application
and interview process?
The application process was just about sending my CVs to their HR
Department. The Interview process was not so formal because I was
interviewed by the General Manager, not the HR Manager. He was more
interested in getting to know about my skills and my experiences.
In your opinion, what factors enabled you to be successful in obtaining
employment?
My work experience with the International Office certainly helped.
Do you have any further helpful hints for graduates?
Once gain, work experiences helps, so I recommend graduates to
gain work experiences before they graduate.
