Supporting Flinders
Staff
The Flinders Leadership and Graduate Skill Development Programs are a series
of free professional development programs run throughout the year for Flinders
University students.
Benefits to students include the opportunity to:
- enrich and apply academic knowledge and new skill developments to real life
community problems and situations
- explore possible career fields and interests
- equip you with the skills and experiences to assist your entry into employment
- create possible job connections and networking opportunities.
Included in this series is a program to complement the needs of university
teaching staff, the Corporate University Skills Program (CUSP).
CUSP provides transferable skills training to develop 'graduate readiness'
within university degree topics.
Established CUSP partnerships include working with:
- Engineering to develop their student’s teamwork skills in preparation for the Industrial Affiliates Program.
- Medical Science to link their student’s understanding with workplace skills and teamwork preparation.
- Health Sciences to support their students in work experience preparation by providing them with professional development in conflict resolution and team work.
- Speech Pathology to give their students the opportunity to enhance communication and conflict resolution skills in preparation for the workplace.
- Nutrition & Dietetics to assist their students in preparation for work placements and interdisciplinary teams in the workplace, incorporating Communication, Conflict Resolution, Working in Teams and Project Management
- Creative Arts to expand the students teamwork skills in preparation for future employment
- Biotechnology as part of the professional skills series providing an opportunity to develop team skills
- Cultural & Eco Tourism professional skills series in developing students understanding and preparation for teamwork
All workshops are negotiated with lecturers to best suit the needs of the students and the topic and they are based on current employability framework, professional development training and experiential activities.
