Areas of study

People and behaviour

Flinders offers a number of course options for students interested in how humans behave as individuals and in groups, ranging from psychology (the science of the mind) to sociology.

Undergraduate options

Behavioural Science: A degree program combining psychology with other study areas and leading to careers in such fields as human resources and industrial relations, health, social policy, and community or youth work.

Philosophy: Philosophy (which can be studied as a major sequence in a Bachelor of Arts) is the study of ideas and of the truths and principles of all knowledge. A collaboration between philosophy and psychology is making important findings about the human mind.

Psychology: Psychology is the study of behaviour and this Honours program was created specifically to train professional psychologists to work in industry, business, education or health areas.

Sociology: A major sequence within a Bachelor of Arts which looks at social relations and seeks to explain how an individual's circumstances are related to wider public issues such as employment, health and welfare.

The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology), Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science all can be studied to honours level and can be taken in a combined degrees program with a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice.

Postgraduate options

Flinders offers coursework programs in Psychology and Sociology. Postgraduate studies in Philosophy can be pursued through a Master of Arts by thesis.
