Overview

This program is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of difficulties children may experience in learning and strategies that can improve learning.

Students complete four topics:

  • Educating Children with Learning Difficulties
  • Intervention for Students with Literacy Difficulties
  • Intervention for Students with Numeracy Difficulties
  • Educational Planning and Assessment for Students with Special Needs.

Entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in education, disability studies, psychology, speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

The University may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show that they demonstrate the experience, knowledge and aptitude required to undertake the course. Please contact the University for further advice.

This course is professionally-oriented and is intended for people currently employed as teachers in the field of education; it does not qualify graduates for teacher registration.
