Overview
What is going on when students are trying to understand texts or diagrams, or when they are trying to solve problems? What does "being an active learner" mean? Can you help students change their motivational states? Is discussion really valuable as a form of learning?
These are some of the questions that are addressed in the Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice specialisation with the Master of Education degree at Flinders University.
In this specialisation students develop and understanding of the cognitive psychology of learning and investigate how this can be applied to problems that arise in learning and teaching.
You might be interested in this specialisation if you are a:
- classroom teacher
- special education teacher
- lecturer or tutor in further or higher education
- private tutor or trainer
- student wanting to understand your own learning processes.
Applicants who have completed a four year Education/Teaching degree (or equivalent) can receive one year's credit towards the Master of Education. Please note that the core topics of this award must be undertaken in sequence. This means the minimum period for completing the MEDCP is 18 months, even if credit is granted.
Note: The Master of Education and related specialisations does not qualify graduates for teacher registration.
