Overview
Graduate Certificate in Education
This course is for the working specialist professional and short-term visitor, including those employed or seeking to be employed in education, special education or educational management and those who have an interest in developing their knowledge in these areas.
The program of study involves advanced coursework in aspects of research, theory and practice. There is scope for teachers to accredit appropriate professional development.

* The Graduate Certificate in Education (Higher Education) is normally offered to teaching staff employed by a tertiary education institution. Flinders University teaching staff may be granted credit for the Flinders Foundation of University Teaching (FFOUT) Program or equivalent. Master of Education
The Master of Education is an in-depth coursework program that allows students to create individual programs to suit their interests and thus shape their own educational pathways, with the option to include a project or research dissertation. The program is designed to meet the increasing demand for professional development for educators. Topics and research supervision are available in a range of areas.

Note: The Master of Education and related specialisations does not qualify graduate for teacher registration.
Applicants who have completed a four year Education/Teaching degree (or equivalent) will receive 36 units of credit towards the Master of Education and related specialisations.

Applicants must normally hold an approved 3 year degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. Masters degrees are 72-unit courses but credit of up to 36 units may be granted for an approved 4 year degree and relevant work experience. Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate or equivalent receive some credit when progressing to Education Masters program. Accredited professional development pathways modules may also be recognised. Cost basis: This course is offered on a full-fee paying basis. Whilst this course is being offered as full-fee paying the University is able to offer all successful applicants a scholarship which will allow them to undertake the course at a lower cost, similar to the amount paid by a Commonwealth supported student. These arrangements apply to all the specialisations in the postgraduate Education program, with the exception of the International Baccalaureate specialisation..
