Overview

The Master of Engineering Science (Materials) provides students with the foundations that will underpin ongoing professional development, preparing graduates for further study or for a career in an engineering related field or in related areas where these range of skills and knowledge are required.

Students complete eleven core topics including a research project and five option topics. These topics provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge in computer programming, engineering mathematics, human physiology, engineering mechanics and project management and innovation.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in the discipline of engineering, or science or medical science, or computer science.

In addition, all applicants must have previous study in communication and planning skills, mathematics (equivalent to first-year university mathematics) and science (equivalent to university undergraduate topic in chemistry and physics). Some basic knowledge of biology and human physiology is assumed.

Applicants who hold an Australian TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma (AQF Level 5) qualification in an appropriate field and have 7 years' full-time equivalent relevant work experience (eg as an Engineer, Engineering Officer, Scientist, Technical Officer etc) will also be considered.
