Overview

The course addresses the increasing demand for graduates of high quality equipped with the skills and expertise to competently, confidently and efficiently negotiate and interface with the business world. It course aims to:

  • provide vocational knowledge and advanced transferable skills relevant to the contemporary graduate workplace
  • develop the skills and understanding necessary for effective high level written and oral communication in the workplace
  • enhance students' critical and communicative skills, including: the capacity to give a convincing public presentation of an argument or information; and to gain the interpersonal skills required to work effectively in small groups
  • gain project management, problem-solving and report-writing skills
  • gain a familiarity with the use of information technology and digital media for the acquisition, production and dissemination of knowledge.

Course structure

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies a student must complete 18 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.

Other topics may be considered for accreditation of up to 6 units at this level, subject to the approval of the Professional Studies Coordinator and the Head of Department responsible for the topic concerned.
