Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Research Methods is designed to provide you with high-level knowledge of and skills in research methods and the opportunity to develop further depth and breadth of knowledge in your area of study as a pathway to research higher degree study.

It includes a substantial 18-unit research thesis/project, which provides the eligibility required to apply for various scholarship opportunities and entry into a research higher degree.

This course can be pursued in any one of the four faculties of the University:

  • Education, Humanities and Law
  • Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
  • Social and Behavioural Sciences
  • Science and Engineering

By studying within a specific faculty of the University, you are provided with expertise and support that is directly relevant to your chosen area of study.

Entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution and have achieved a grade point average of 5.00 or greater. Under exceptional circumstances and subject to specific conditions, the Faculty Board may admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.

Admission to the course will be subject to the Faculty being able to provide appropriate resources, an approved project and is subject to the discipline area being able to provide suitable supervision for the program of study.

This course is unavailable for the School of Psychology due to accreditation and topic prerequisites.

Additional requirements: Applicants must submit a research statement for assessment by the faculty and potential supervisor for the 18-unit research thesis/project component.
