Note: Commonwealth supported places in the Graduate Certificate in Health are available in the the following streams/specialisations: Advanced Continence Nurse Specialist; Aged Care Nursing Studies; Continence Nurse Advisor; Critical Care Nursing; Diabetes Management and Education; Emergency Nursing; Mental Health Nursing; General Practice Nursing; Mental Health Sciences and Palliative Care and Self Management.


This course allows individuals from any professional background working in health-related areas to deepen the knowledge base on which their practice is grounded. Students are able to select one of a number of streams covering a diversity of areas of practice in nursing and public health.

Entry requirements
Applicants must normally hold a degree or qualification deemed appropriate by the Board of the Faculty of Health Sciences but there is provision for applicants to be admitted on the basis of experience.

Some streams have additional entry requirements, eg Nursing streams generally require applicants to be registered general nurses holding a current practising certificate [see Program of Study].

How to apply using GradStart
Three easy steps:

  1. Visit the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) website.
  2. Link via the GradStart button. Click on 'Want to Apply?' to begin your application.
  3. Submit your application. You will be sent a confirmation email.
You can apply for admission at any time during the year and GradStart applications are free.

If you receive any correspondence from SATAC requesting further information you will need to supply what is requested. Your application cannot be processed until all requested information is received. Note: you must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia to apply through GradStart.

Course fees
Refer to the appropriate fee schedule for Australian students and international students.

Australian citizens, and those holding an Australian permanent humanitarian visa who meet eligibility criteria who enrol in any of the fee-paying streams, are eligible to defer their fees through the Higher Education Loan Program (FEE-HELP).
