This course is taught jointly by the Centre for Development Studies and the Department of Public Health.

It has been designed to provide students with an understanding of comprehensive primary health care as it applies in the developing world in relation to an understanding of the philosophical, theoretical and empirical issues of international development.

It articulates with the University's Graduate Certificate in Health and Graduate Diploma in International Development or their equivalent, and credit may also be awarded for prior learning gained in industry.

The course provides critical insights into the social, political and cultural processes and the institutional contexts that shape health and development issues, research, policy and practice. It aims to develop highly skilled specialists to better plan, develop, manage and evaluate and implement health initiatives and programs.

Entry requirements
Applicants for basic level entry normally must hold an approved undergraduate degree or equivalent. Details of admission requirements for progressive or advanced level entry are set out in the course rule.

You can apply for admission at any time during the year and GradStart applications are free.

If you receive any correspondence from SATAC requesting further information you will need to supply what is requested. Your application cannot be processed until all requested information is received. Note: you must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia to apply through GradStart.

Australian citizens, and those holding an Australian permanent humanitarian visa who meet eligibility criteria, are eligible to defer their fees through the Higher Education Loan Program (FEE-HELP). Contact Student Finance Services on (08) 8201 3143 for details.
