This course allows university graduates to take a language they have not previously studied at university level. It is designed to provide competence in French, Spanish, Italian, Modern Greek or Indonesian and thus add greater portability to a graduate's qualifications. At the same time, it increases cross-cultural understanding and provides the academic rigour of formal language study.

By adding linguistic expertise or strengthening skills already gained in a language other than English, graduates increase their ability to understand and interact with another culture. In addition graduates' ability to communicate the skills and knowledge acquired from their previous university studies is greatly enhanced.

The full program of study is set out in the Course rule and topic descriptions for this degree.
