The Master of Science (Computer Science) is designed for students with a computer science, software/computer systems engineering, information technology, information systems or an equivalent computing rich background. 

The course builds on a student’s existing computer science, research and professional skills.  Flexibility is built into the course and students have the opportunity to choose a specialisation and elective topics.

The masters award provides graduates with not only the practical and theoretical aspects of computer science, but also an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and an awareness of social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of computer science in a global community. 

Projects and coursework have been designed to address topical concerns in industry and society preparing graduates for further enrolment in a research degree or employment in a computing related field.

The Masters of Science (Computer Science) is accredited by the Australian Computer Society

Entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold a Bachelors degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, ICT –based engineering or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution. Graduates with a degree in behavioural science or psychology including a major in artificial intelligence or computer science are also eligible.

Note: Applicants who hold a degree or equivalent in a discipline that is not listed above should apply for admission to the Master of Information Technology.

The Faculty Board may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
