This articulated program is designed to provide medical practitioners with the scientific and biomedical bases to comprehend the functioning of the musculoskeletal system and the skills to diagnose, assess and treat musculoskeletal dysfunction.
The Graduate Certificate comprises three topics taught on campus at Flinders, the first in November and the others the following February and July.
Graduate Diploma students take a fourth on-campus topic in September then complete an independent study and elective topic by distance education. Provision is made for teleconferencing and video-conferencing.
The four core on-campus topics are:
- Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System
- Clinical Skills in Managing Non-Surgical Musculoskeletal Dysfunction
- Musculoskeletal Dysfunction Related to Diseases of the Vertebral Skeleton
- Musculoskeletal Dysfunction Related to Diseases of the Appendicular Skeleton
They must be taken in sequence and include some distance learning assignments. All are taught during term breaks to maximise the use of facilities and equipment.
The full program of study is set out in the course rule and topic descriptions for these degrees.
