This articulated program provides education for professionals from any related background who are working in or have an interest in palliative care. The main focus is to provide an opportunity to deepen the knowledge base on which their practice is based and to build a better understanding of the strengths contributed by each team member.

The Graduate Diploma builds on the Graduate Certificate, adding more elective options to the core topics.

The Master of Palliative Care is a coursework degree which aims to deepen and extend the knowledge and skills that are required for practice in the Palliative Care context and beyojnd (eg acute aged care, etc) and to provide an opportunity for students to reflect critically on their practice in the light of current literature and of the experience of other students and faculty. Electives allow the inclusion of topics offered by other disciplines. The course will allow students to have the option of undertaking the 54-unit masters from the following streams: Masters by Coursework; Masters by Project [18-units research of project]; and Masters by Research [36-unit thesis].

The Master of Science (Palliative Care) normally is only available to students transferring from the Master of Palliative Care after completing 36 units of core topics. They then undertake a 36 unit thesis, which provides the opportunity to conceptualise, plan, conduct and report on a substantial research project.

The full program of study is set out in the Course rule and topic descriptions for the relevant degree(s).

A Palliative Care stream to masters level also can be taken within the broader Primary Health Care program.
