Overview
The Department of Public Health offers a comprehensive program in Primary Health Care for health professionals seeking specialist qualifications with vocational relevance. The aim is to enhance their knowledge and skills in ways that enable them to better plan, develop, manage and evaluate initiatives and programs to promote health and prevent disease.
The Graduate Certificates articulate with the Master of Public Health.
The Masters adds further specialist topics and a practicum. At masters level students may incorporate topics from any of these areas, as well as topics offered in the Health Service Management program at Flinders and by the University of Adelaide or, with approval, other universities.
The Doctor of Public Health is a 108-unit degree, comprising coursework and research which aims to provide candidates with advanced and specialist study that will enable them to develop advanced skills and knowledge to undertake a variety of advanced professional roles in public health and human services. It is expected that graduates of this award will be able to integrate and apply the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge that are required to progress public health policy, management and practice.
Credit of up to 36 units may be granted for approved prior studies.
Most topics are supported by on-learning resources and activities. Flinders University uses an on-line teaching program called Flinders Learning Online.
