WHY STUDY DIGITAL MEDIA?

Digital Media Studies explores the ways in which digital media are used in society and the workplace. Topics aim to equip students with the ability to use information and communication technology in educational and professional contexts, and to provide analytical, historical and theoretical perspectives on the development of digital media and on their role in contemporary culture.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Digital Media Studies gives students a solid base in a range of digital media developments that are effecting work practices in many fields. Business, public service, education, and creative fields will be accessible to students completing this field of study.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Digital Media Studies offers students insight into the availability and trends of emerging technologies, their infusion and application in education and society. The program recognises the place of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as personal tools, optimisers in the workplace, and for lifelong learning. The Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS) has included ICT as a core teaching area (subject) and recognises our programs of study both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Topics in the program of study are sequenced pedagogically to empower students to meet the requirements for tertiary education, to understand the broader implications of emerging technologies and to provide an opportunity for innovation in the application of ICT in their field of study.

Research studies and industry collaboration ensure that our ICT topics reflect the most current research and knowledge.
