This pathway provides you with flexibility, choice and guaranteed entry to the Master of Teaching (Secondary).
In the first three years you will complete the Bachelor of Arts. Majors offered include: English, Drama, Modern Languages, Visual Arts, History, Geography and Environmental Studies, Law and Society, and Psychology. Minors are offered in: Mathematics and Sciences.
On completing the Bachelor of Arts program to a required standard, you will be eligible to progress directly to the Master of Teaching (Secondary).
The Master of Teaching is a pre-service teaching degree, providing you with the background necessary to apply for registration as secondary teachers. Topics covered during the two years include curriculum studies in two specialist areas, and, professional experience in schools.
Note: if you start the course midyear, it will take at least 5 and a half years to complete as there is no midyear entry to the Master of Teaching.
Graduates of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) will be able to apply for teacher registration in South Australia and some overseas countries.
Applicants should note there are other criteria determining eligibility for registration by the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia and other registration and regulatory authorities.
Applicants are advised to check registration requirements as they are subject to change.
Graduates looking for employment in other parts of Australia and overseas may be required to meet additional conditions.
What will I study?
Domestic students: You can qualify for undergraduate courses through: year 12 qualifications, adult entry (STAT/Bridging Program), TAFE/VET qualification, higher education transfers. Flinders also offers a range of special access schemes. Refer to undergraduate study applications.
