Course overview

The Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) is an advanced pathway for candidates who are graduates of a degree in academic areas other than nursing, are looking for a new career direction and would like to become eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (refer to Professional Recognition/Membership for further information).

You will:

  • build on knowledge and skills gained from previous tertiary qualifications and develop these into a nursing practice context while being introduced to clinical practice in various health care settings. Studies include nursing and research skills, the scientific basis of nursing and ethics and law applied to nursing
  • explore more complex issues in nursing such as health sociology, nursing in a socio-political context, Indigenous health issues and mental illness, tobacco and other drugs.

Our aim is to prepare nurses who are reflective about practice and have well-developed clinical reasoning skills.

What will I study?

What is Nursing?

Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings.

Modern nurses play an important role in health promotion, maintenance and education, as well as in traditional patient care and the restoration of health.
