Most topics supply online content to complement your studies at Flinders. The most frequently used method of putting learning materials online is to use a program called FLO (Flinders Learning Online). This system has tools built into it to support online teaching and learning such as discussion, mail, and calendar tools.
The use of FLO varies from topic to topic. Your Topic Coordinator should make this clear to you at the beginning of the topic. If you are unsure, ask your Topic Coordinator.
Using your FAN and FAN password you can access your FLO topics via iFlinders or the FLO login page.
You should normally have access to your topics one week before teaching begins.
If you need to view or update your student details, enrol, withdraw, register in classes, make payments or view your results, you can do this online through the Student Information System.
You can access the Student Information System via iFlinders and will need to use your Student ID and FAN password.
Student Information System accounts are disabled if a login is attempted multiple times with an incorrect password. The number of attempts is subject to change from time to time, but will be between 3 and 10.
More information about online enrolment and registering in classes is available at Enrolling at Flinders.
Many of the Library's services and resources are available online.
Resources for students is an abbreviated list of the most useful Library links and resources for students, including past exams.
The Library catalogue (Voyager Information System) lists all resources held by the Library and gives access other electronic resources such as eReserve, databases and electronic journals.
Your Topic Coordinators may use the eReserve system to provide you with scanned copies of the readings (from books or journals) for your topics.
You will be asked to enter your FAN and password to access resources in the Library catalogue from off campus. If you are on campus you do not need to login.
The Voyager system also has a tool called My Record, which you can use to view your current loan status and to extend loans on the Internet. You can use your FAN to view My Record in the Voyager Information System.
Student computers and access to the Internet are available in each of the Libraries and in computer labs managed by the Faculty in which you are studying.
To manage the cost of the University’s increasing Internet usage an Internet accounting system is being implemented.
Location details for student computing facilities are available in the FLO Student Access Guide.
Students with a laptop computer with a wireless network adaptor can use the University's wireless network in some locations.
