Your student email is available via a web browser by going to https://livemail.flinders.edu.au/ssoportal and login with your FAN and FAN password.

This is how most people access their email. If you want to have it on your computer the below instructions are available to help you set it up.

Outlook

  1. Open Outlook (If there is not a shortcut on the start bar or desktop, click Start > all programs > Microsoft Office).
  2. If the Startup wizard automatically starts click Next. Then, on the E-mail Accounts page click Next again to set up an e-mail account.
If the Startup wizard doesn't appear, in Outlook click the File tab. Then, just above the Account Settings button, click Add Account.
  3. On the Auto Account Setup page enter:
    • Your Name: enter the name you want displayed on the emails you send
    • Email Address: enter your Uni email address (eg. test0001@uni.flinders.edu.au)
    • Password: enter your FAN password
    • Retype Password: re-enter your FAN password
  4. Click Next. Outlook will perform an online search to find your e-mail server settings. You may be prompted to enter your user name and password during this search. Make sure that you enter your full FAN-based e-mail address (for example, test0001@flinders.edu.au) as your user name.
  5. If Outlook is able to set up your account, you'll see the following text: "Your e-mail account is successfully configured". Click Finish.
If an error comes up check your details and try again.

Windows 8

  1. Open the Windows 8 Mail app.
  2. If you see the Add an account button when you start Mail, select Add account > Exchange. If you don't see the Add an account option, open the main charm menu on the right side of the page, and then select Settings > Accounts > Add an account > Exchange.
  3. On the Add your Exchange account page enter:
    • Email Address: enter your Uni email address (eg. test0001@uni.flinders.edu.au)
    • Password: enter your FAN password
  4. Select Connect. Mail will perform an online search to find your email server settings.
  5. If you see the message "Your email account is successfully configured.", select Finish.
If an error comes up check you details and try again.

If you would like to know where these settings go in your particular mail client, Microsoft has a fairly extensive set of instructions. You can access these setup guides at http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/dd936216.aspx.
