Overview
Degree conferral is the official awarding of your degree, diploma or certificate by the University. This can only be done by applying to graduate at a Graduation Ceremony or a meeting of the University Council.
All students need to apply for degree conferral in order to get a copy of their parchment.
Flinders University holds graduation ceremonies twice a year. The main ceremonies are held on campus in April for students who completed their studies in Semester 2 of the previous year. Ceremonies are also held in the city in December, for International and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students, and other students who completed their course in Semester 1 or earlier.
The next round of Flinders University Graduation Ceremonies will be held Tuesday, 18 December 2012. For further information please visit Graduation Ceremony Information.
It is not compulsory to attend a graduation ceremony but many students do. Student often see it as a great way to formally celebrate their success and to share the moment with family and friends, many of whom may never have come to Flinders.
If you would like to attend a graduation ceremony please visit Graduation Ceremony Information to submit an application.
If you don't wish to attend a ceremony the university can confer your award in absentia. To have your award conferred in absentia please visit Conferral Information in Absentia (not attending).
