1. Report to the registration area, 1 to 1.5 hours prior to the commencement of the ceremony.

You MUST register in order to collect your seat number.

2. At least 30 minutes before the ceremony, take your allocated seat in the graduation hall. Ushers will be on hand to direct you to the correct seat. An explanation of the proceedings will be given once all graduands are seated. It is VITAL that you sit in the seat allocated to you.

Please ensure that all mobile phones are switched off once you have entered the hall. Guests will be permitted to enter the hall approximately 15 mins prior to the start of the ceremony.

3. At the conclusion of the ceremony graduates join the academic procession and move out of the hall as directed by the Marshalling Officer.

Graduation ceremonies last for approximately 1.5 hours.

During the Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony commences with the entrance of the academic procession. All stand. At the conclusion of the Australian National Anthem you may be seated.

After an opening address, the first row of graduands will be signalled to stand and move to the aisle, and led down towards the stage. Each row will then be signalled to follow.

Shortly before your name is called you will be prompted to walk up to the edge of the stage.

You will proceed to centre stage once your name is called, where you will doff your mortarboard before being presented to the Officiating Officer, who will shake your hand. (If for cultural reasons you would prefer not to shake hands, please indicate this on your graduation application form). You will be handed your parchment and will then proceed to walk across the stage and down the steps where you will be guided back to your seat.

Parking

Please allow sufficient time to find a car park, keeping in mind the Plaza construction and walking around it. Car parking is available on campus at Flinders University, but is limited. The closest car park is Car Park 1, which can be accessed via University Drive. Please be aware that car parking spaces fill early, graduands and guests should allow plenty of time for parking. The closest drop-off point for graduands and guests with limited mobility is at the end of Registry Road. The Loop Bus will operate between car parks to the Sports Centre. Please refer to the campus map for car park locations.

Graduands/ Guests with Disabilities

The university is pleased to assist you if you have special requirements. If you, or your guests, use a wheelchair, crutches, have a guide dog or require disability parking, please let us know what your requirements are as soon as possible. Photographs

GFP Graduations are contracted by Flinders University to take photographs during the graduation ceremonies and have studios available before and after each ceremony for portraits. A photograph of your stage presentation will be available to purchase and take home on the day.

The studio Deluxe Proofing Service is a great way to see all of your images online. You get to choose which images you like the best and mix and match them into a package that suits you. GFP will notify you of your secure login by email and sms, then you simply go online to view and order prints. You can share your login, so your family and friends can also view the photographs and purchase prints too. A fee of $30 is payable on the day and this covers the cost of the photographic sitting where a variety of poses are taken. Once your order to purchase prints of the photographs is placed, GFP will post the photographs to you within 10 business days.
