Graduation information for staff

Flinders holds graduation ceremonies twice a year. The main ceremonies are held on campus in April in the Sports Centre for students who completed their studies in the previous year. Ceremonies are also held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on North Terrace in December for international and BMBS students, and other students who completed their course in Semester 1.

Staff wishing to assist with the ceremony, participate in the academic procession or apply for reserved guest tickets should fill out the online application form by Friday 12 December 2008.

Academic procession

Academic staff wishing to participate in the academic procession may do so by filling out the online application form by 12 December. You may elect to participate in a number of ceremonies if you wish and you do not require a ticket to process. The academic procession will assemble on the steps outside the Registry Building 15 minutes prior to the start of the Graduation ceremony, so please ensure you are ready and waiting.

Academic dress

The Graduation Office can assist with academic dress if you do not own your own. We can lend gowns, mortarboards and hoods in specific degree colours (subject to availability) to all graduates of Flinders University. Please note that academic dress for postgraduate degrees, particularly for doctorates is limited and students will be given preference for hire, therefore we cannot guarantee availability of these.

We can offer a plain black gown and mortarboard if your degree colours are unavailable, or if you are a graduate from another University. Those wishing to wear degree colours from another University will need to contact that University to arrange for hire or purchase.

If you wish to borrow academic dress, please indicate this the online application form . Your academic dress can be collected from the Function Centre (old staff club opposite car park 5) in the days leading up to the ceremony.

Academic dress must be collected from the Function Centre (opposite car park 5) on the following dates:

• Saturday 13 December (10am - 7pm)
• Monday 15 December (10am - 7pm)
• Tuesday 16 December (10am - 2pm)

All academic dress must be returned at one of the following times:

• Wednesday 17 December (2pm - 7pm)
• Thursday 18 December (9am - 7pm)
• Friday 19 December (9am - 7pm)

Staff assistance at graduation

As you are aware, graduation is a busy time for staff and students across the University and the Graduation Office appreciates as much help as it can get from staff in other areas of the University. Some of the tasks involved include working on registration desk on the day or ushering in the graduation hall. If you are willing to assist, please fill out an online application form . Staff will be contacted with a roster approximately one week prior to the ceremony.

Tickets for staff

All staff are welcome to apply for reserved tickets in graduation ceremonies, please fill out the online application form if you wish to apply for tickets. Tickets can be collected from the VIP desk in the Adelaide Convention Centre on 17 December.
