The Student Learning Centre (SLC) is an integral part of the University’s Teaching and Learning Plan. Its principal role is to provide high quality, comprehensive academic support accessible to all students, while recognising and accommodating the diversity of the student population.
Our innovative model of academic support has been developed, not only to reach the maximum number of students but also to cater for the diversity of students’ learning styles and needs. It comprises four modes of delivery, each of which is flexible and accessible to all students. Except for 1:1 appointments, students can access at least one of the modes at any time, without booking. The modes are:
- Writing & Maths Centres (WAMC)
- Extended Consultations
- Lunchtime Seminars
- Assistance for external students
All support materials and program details are on-line and staff utilise electronic media for the needs of off-campus students. The development of on-line resources is an ongoing process.
