ACADEMIC ENGLISH FOR NESB STUDENTS

Our three principal areas of interest are:

  • Student development: NESB students’ beliefs, motivations and readiness to develop their English language skills to improve their academic performance.

  • Teaching/academic support: Evaluation of our current English language support practices for NESB students.

  • Technology and Language Support: Investigation of the use of educational technologies and online learning to complement language teaching.

SELECTED NUMBERS

Our three principal areas of interest are:

  • Investigating the improvement of numeracy skills and education at university level, including the evaluation of pedagogies used to teach numeracy as well as student improvement in numeracy-based course

  • Evaluating the efficacy of a metaphor-based approach for lowering mathematics anxiety levels among students

  • Researching a patterns-based approach to mathematics teaching and learning and the development of relevant patterns
