The second year focuses on the dominant genres of naturalism and realism. Here our students develop techniques for the portrayal of ‘unique human beings’ on a proscenium stage, in an intimate theatre, and for the camera in both television and film. Each of these environments demands different acting techniques. By the end of the second year, we expect our students to be capable of controlling the depiction of a character with equal skill in each of these performance contexts. Second year students also learn about theatre and film in both a national and international context through a program of screenings, lectures, seminars and presentations by visiting artists.
