Visiting Scholar Policy

This policy is proposed by the International Programs Committee of the School of Education.  It aims to give guidance to staff when dealing with applications for visiting scholars:

  1. Preference is given to applicants who are from institutions with which Flinders University already has a relationship, or with which Flinders University is keen to develop a relationship;

  2. Visiting scholars should be limited to one or two per calendar year, dependent on School resource;

  3. Generally visiting scholars should fund their own travel cost, accommodation and any other living expenses and the school will provide academic status, office space and library access;

  4. Applicants should state clearly in their application the purpose of their visit.  They should indicate how they will make a contribution to the School in a way which is compatible with their purposes of visit;

  5. Applications should include a CV;

  6. In general, the term of each visit should not exceed six months;

  7. The School of Education Dean recommends, and the Faculty Executive Dean approves, visiting scholar applications.
